Diane Beddison’s private garden is a beautiful garden built around the existing mature trees and shrubs inherited from the former garden and complements the historic Victorian brick home it surrounds.
Mica Grange was also part of the Castlemaine Garden Festival. Much of the property is quite open, with good use made of existing rocks and uninterrupted views of the surrounding countryside. The owner specialises in creating core-ten metal art work which is displayed in the garden.
Castlemaine holds a festival of gardens every two years and had 22 gardens open this year. Mossbank garden in Castlemaine was one of several highlights of the festival.
We visited a very special country garden, Jamelyn Heights Garden – Neerim East. Features near the entrance of this large country garden, included two circular hedges with curved faces and double flowering Wisteria’s inside them.
What a joy to visit one of my favourite gardens on a misty autumn day! The garden is held together by strong design with much of its structure created through a series of hedges and well-chosen trees and shrubs. With numerous deciduous trees, autumn colours were stunning.
The Chelsea Flower Show was big! An hour of prime time television was given over to Chelsea highlights each evening for five nights. I arrived at Chelsea in London on Wednesday morning to sunshine.
