So wonderful to be able to visit beautiful gardens such as Picardy Garden again, which are on our doorstep.
Owners Marian and Bryce Somers describe Picardy Garden as ‘An Australian garden inspired by a passion for all things French’.
This French style rammed earth home and outbuildings including mud brick barn and dovecote, plus the surrounding green hills make an impressive backdrop to this colourful garden.
The garden is framed by mature trees, hedges and shrubs. It is divided into many garden rooms.
Hard Landscaping is organic making use of timeless bricks, gravels, plus timber and metal for seats and arbours. Adorning the garden rooms are ornaments such as metal chooks and rabbits, French pots and urns.
As you move through the rose garden, old fashioned roses gradually change from red to pink and orange. Perennials and bulbs surround the roses, complementing their flower colour.
A small selection of photos is shown below and who can’t resist snapping a happy hen. Hoping to see this enchanting garden in spring. If you enjoy spending time in gardens or just want some planting or design ideas for your own garden a visit to Picardy Garden is a must.
